scottish thistle 1

A striking purple Scottish thistle stands out from a muted monochrome background in this original image.
There is a legend behind the use of this prickly flower as the Scottish emblem. In the thirteenth century an invading army led by King Haakon of Norway landed on the Scottish coast at Largs (Ayrshire) under cover of darkness but one barefoot soldier trod on a thistle, shouted out in pain and warned the Scots of their presence.
A perfect greeting card for birthdays, special occasions, or as a note card just to say hello.
